The Declaration of Independence - History repeats itself once again

Happy Declaration of Independence Day !! 
      Wishing You Freedom, Happiness, Peace & Abundance as yet to come for many, as the American Bill of Rights is literally no longer, and a "a decent respect to the opinions of mankind" no longer exists among our ruling class......here is a reminder of where we were and where we stand now, read excerpts from the original Declaration of Independence below & the then Peoples plan to action, to see.....as history repeats itself , to our dismay,once again.

May Update !

Its been an exciting May so far. A bit schizophrenic in so far as the weather is concerned. I've sent off my protest payment to 407 ETR in the form of multiple checks. I decided postage for pennies would've been too much. 
THank YOU to those of you who responded to my post. Feel free to update us regarding this modern act of highway robbery either here or on my facebook wall in solidarity ! 
           The Lilac festival was a wonderful time. The weather looked threatening so I asked my fans and Facebook friends to do a Sun dance and I visualized the same.  I brought my jacket and winter gloves with the cut off fingers just in case, but envisioned the better scenario.  As the Universe would have it, as I watched the band before us perform their last song, the Sun began to fight its way thru the clouds sporadically teasing us. By the time we started our set it was shining and warming us all throughout the rest of the day.  Dino Kay one of our local DJ's was kind enough to attribute it to me as he announced us, but lets just say it was a group effort :)
Thank You to Jeff Springut & the entire RochesterEvents staff for all your hard work in pulling it together. Also THanks to my new band members Joe Jovanelli & Shawn Rotolo for doing such a great job for their first time out with me! Last but never least, Thank YOU Mother Nature for giving us the beautiful environment in which to share our music.

Route 407 ETR - Modern Day Highway Bandits !



      I'm a U.S. citizen who received a "mystery" bill for $18.50 TWO months after my trip to Hamilton , Canada coming from Upstate NY.  I googled for an explanation of what 407 ETR was.
      Upon reading Wikipedia I was livid, appalled, and furious regarding what I now perceive as a "tourist trap" en route to Hamilton, Canada.
   Like pirates and bandits of old who used to prey (in person) on unsuspecting stagecoaches & boats passing in unfamiliar territory, the private owners of RT 407 are not only ambiguous, but elusive & evasive highway bandits to unsuspecting first time travelers thru that area.
       Even with a new "question mark" added to their already ambiguous signs to somehow avoid confusion, how the hell were we to know what the hell a "transponder " was while driving 35mph and trying to figure out the impressive array of cameras looming forward in the distance like Orwell's Big Brother?
    I'm also noting the distance from the incredibly ambiguous sign to the frame structure , as well as no toll " booth" or slowing down barrier which we Americans would signify as the manned or unmanned (EasyPass) money "receiver."
     The ETR video equipped metal structure to an American, resembles the spying video cameras on our roadways used to catch drivers violating the traffic or other laws, which is what I thought it was when I drove under it and then again when I received this bill yesterday. I thought I'd been observed breaking a law! Then I thought, "What law? I didn't throw a finger at or speed thru the cameras  or break any laws that I'm aware of ?!"
    Then I called the number on the ambiguous bill.  They had no mercy, compassion or recourse for first time tourists caught in this transportation trap!

My suggestion? Get new signs:
" YOU ARE NOW ENTERING A 407 ETR TOLL VIDEO AREA/ROAD: 
Pay the (unexplained, overpriced, egregious!) toll 
or risk your life turning back on a one way ramp! "

WTF is a transponder ?!! 
Where do I buy one in the next 30 seconds while driving, before I hit ...what , where, ..what toll ?
Too late! $18.15 later.......15 cents?

             This is pure corporate for profit only entrapment, very bad for your local tourism.
Put up a toll booth or redo the signs: YOU ARE NOW ENTERING A 407 ETR TOLL VIDEO AREA: Pay the (unexplained, overpriced, egregious!) toll or turn back!
      Wikipedia stated that there is also a law suit pending between the private owners and the province of Ontario ? Does anyone have updated information on this lawsuit ?
       I am choosing to pay this bill because I expect to continue traveling to and from Canada and choose to obey this particular Canadian law no matter how illegal it appears. (They stated on the phone that my fee was doubled because they had to video tape my license plate in order to charge me the toll fee!! I had to pay for a bill to be sent to ME ?!!) I try to avoid problems when I can.
      I love Canada and Canadian people, but not the private for profit thieves that do things like this no matter what country, including my own, and we've done plenty I know. However as I usually do with other forms of scams and injustices, I'll be spreading the word far and wide to warn people of this "trap," and probably embarrassment to the local community & province.
     It's caused me to think twice about returning to that area at all. I wonder how your local merchants feel about that ? I'm sure I'm not the first to feel that way. If anything I may return just to support the local merchants because of it, and I will definitely boycott this roadway.  But I'm hoping the local merchants are using their votes, signatures on petitions & purses to protest this privatization of a public roadway, like on this petition : http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/407etr/

Progress ?!

Is it really Wednesday, tomorrow Thursday? WHat happened to Monday & Tuesday, or last week for that matter?  Because of my whirlwind activities I now sit here with a whopper of a cold, one of those "my face hurts" kinda head colds. I'm drinking hot veggie organic boullion to soothe the swollen glands. Had enough of honey, tea & lemon today.
     Everything considered I've handled myself well. Managing, schedules, meals, calendars , crisis. Getting better & better everyday in every way. In the middle of it all I'm trying to remember to have some fun, sometimes very difficult when good friends are not doing so well.
   I took my daughter to see "Wicked" last night. We enjoyed it very much. Wonderful costumes, set designs, acting & singing. Green will be in this year again to be sure.  My only criticism really ( and thats amazing for me to have only one!) was the musical arrangements.
     WHen did the musical genre get so generic? Since when were we able to walk away from a show not remembering one stand out memorable song, but only the visual effects?  No "Old Man RIver", no "Summertime," or "Over the Rainbow?"
Almost every song sounded the same.  A bit of a let down. Something that if more attention was paid to it , would've pushed the show over the edge and into my memory forever.
   So if you happen to be in the business of writing for musicals, please , in future, go the extra mile, the extra note or phrase, and start reversing this homogenized trend. Lets bring back wonderful melodies, smart catchy phrases, & memorable hooks with emotional inspiration.

Is A Box With 3 sides Still A Box?

There's so much going on I hardly know where to begin !
Of course that brings to mind, getting organized on a mental & physical level. Many of us creative types have a hard time with that.  We don't like being in "boxes" of any kind.
       Enlightenment!  So I am trying to be more disciplined & focused with MY career choices & this, I realized, will in turn give me more abundance & thus freedom.  I can play in a box, but not a closed one.
        SOooo, I'm starting with my morning rituals/ tasks whatever name you give them that appeals to your emotional sensibility.  These are things I find that I must do to feel better, to get my day started in a healthy positive way in order to have the strength to be disciplined.  Starting to see the breadcrumbs on the trail ?  Good health =  thinking clearly = feeling better =  career tasks = abundance.  I know sounds simple but how are you doing in this area? Are you living  a healthy joyful life? If so please share!
 
       I find that we're being bombarded every moment of every day with intentional distractions designed to keep us from achieving good health, our dreams & passions. In America we're encouraged to eat more, work harder, get depressed,  get sick, take drugs, & die. This is NOT ok with most Americans. We are fighting back.
        I now write my goals down on a list in a notebook with columns for "immediate" "near future" "future", put appointments on my iCal with a "sound" alarm to remind me, add my desires on to home made meditation cassette tapes or cd's, and listen to them often at home & in the car, my blackberry alarm & calendar AND I still employ good ole fashioned paper notes left on the table as a constant reminder of my immediate TO DO's. Now mind you, doing all these things also reinforces in my memory the need to get them done. Yes, I said "need."  I am fortunate to be responsible for much more than myself this lifetime. I've realized & accepted that I'm a leader & if I want to accomplish my goals I have to get over it and get 'er done. All of it.
So whats going on you ask ? :)
      Good health, better than ever before for everyone in my family & some of my outer circles!  There are some who are having challenges. I help when I can.

      I'm writing some cool new stuff. I'm getting more organized with the whole business aspect. I have a wonderful crew of people & new fans around me for awesome support. Networking and making new friends & fans across the planet all the time, thanks to technology.  Getting more airplay on new radio stations across the globe.  Learning how to market better & better , every day in every way. Learning to nap and or meditate again in the afternoons like my ancestors & family in Europe.

Gotta move on to my next task! Have anything to share about how you , manage your time? Let us know so we can learn from each other.  My box has only 3 sides, but its still a box if I need it to be to help me move forward. Remember snow sledding on or in a box ?! :)  Thats the kind of box for me!

Happy New Year !

Akemashite omedetou gozaimasu ! Happy New Year Everyone! 
     2013 -  Its absolutely a transition year like no other on this planet.  Never before has there been such a quickening.  Never before in my memory has good & bad run so parallel with such speed.    One moment something wonderful, a lifetime dream is fulfilled. In the next moment with barely a literal minute to digest the "good news" something terrible happens, a mass killing or 3 relatives or friends passing in one month or week! This has been happening to me for a few years now but each year its seems to happen with more frequency & speed.  I know its also happening this way for many of you. You've told me so & there are endless news stories.  
      What does it all mean? Does it have to do with the vibration of energy speeding up, planet axis shift , a divine plan or choices that we're all making? The intensity of the forces both positive & negative in tandem with the growing population of human beings & greedy corporate crooks global pillaging like never before ?
      Many, before they become ill, or pass, are saying that they're just "tired" and don't wish to be around anymore. Some i.e. seniors are noticeably overwhelmed by the turn of events, never imagining their pensions & healthcare would be stolen away by a government they volunteered to suffer & fight for & fall into depression. Alzheimers is rampant. The great withdrawal from reality & forgetting of all things good & bad.
    
     My thoughts have been very focused on "manifesting"  the past few years. We're inherently creative beings/spirits inside a carbon vessel, here in this dimension.
This past year, I no sooner think of it / wish it then it happens. Clairvoyance or manifesting? Why not the lottery? The universe provides what you need, not always what you want.  
        The Spirit of Your Creator (if you believe there is one:) is within You ! We channel the creative spirit / energy & our thoughts become our reality. Have fun positively creating , with feeling, and have a New Year filled with inner Peace, Happiness & Abundance from within (because thats where it begins) that will surely manifest outward. The world is counting on You & it's time to go global.

A Traumatic Memory in a Folgers Commercial? LOL !!

    As of today I'm officially on vacation.  I'm preparing to make a change this new year and step aside from the marketing (oh so last 2 years :), and work on my writing full tilt. Time for the next cd! More details later.
     Its been quite busy since I last wrote. Pretty nonstop since I got off the plane last November with family, work, & other business ventures, so I've yet to complete my 2nd entry about our Los Angeles trip for the LA Music Awards. But please hang tight, the rest of the tale is worth the wait. First I had to share this.
      This evening while I'm waiting to prepare crab claws for our Xmas eve supper, I opened my computer to look at photos from last weekends gig at Finger Lakes Casino in Upstate New York.  Of course as I logged on I happened to see a curious headline for a video "Rejected Folgers Coffee Commercial" and I just had to look. I couldn't believe what I saw! A traumatic memory resurfaced from our first LA trip in September.  LOL!! At first I began to laugh, then as the commercial progressed and I saw what happened to the poor guy in this commercial I thought, "That could've happened to me !!" My palms began to sweat, ......

The Needs of the Many.......

     I'm recently going inward again to reach more outward. Getting back to writing, & recording vs trying to beat down local venue doors for spiritually unrewarding gigs. I've been doing that for a long time because it was my local safety zone. No pressure or deadlines, singing other peoples tunes while interweaving a few of my own. Yawn.....I've lived on both coasts but always did the same; tried to be a big fish in a small safe pond. That theory doesn't work when my purpose is global.
       For some its perfect, but for others like myself its just not. I admit that it goes in waves or cycles.  You must spend time reaching out locally for many reasons, however at some point you must retreat, create & push outward on a global level as well.  Feel the fear & do it anyway. Use your gifts to serve others globally. " The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few "- Spock "Or the one"- Kirk.

The LA Music Awards Nov. 15, 2012 & Nominating Party

         It seems as if it were just yesterday when I was looking for an appropriate avenue to help me get my music out to the world & to the next level. I realized that I had to get back out in to the world & hunt it down because it certainly wasn't  happening the other way around, no matter how many hours I  spent marketing on social web media .
      It was 2011 when I learned about & submitted my cd to the Los Angeles Music Awards.  I found out in early 2012 that I would be one of 7 of the over 10,000 acts submitted,  to play on the stage at the historic Hollywood Palace, now renamed The Avalon Theatre. I also found out that I'd be receiving "Producers Choice Award for Best Female Rock  Performer!"
       I was very excited not only at the prospect of playing for successful music industry professionals. It was amazingly synchronistic that I'd be performing at this theatre formerly known as the Hollywood Palace, my former place of employment 30 years before! I was the front the door bouncer there in 1983-1984 !
      I took the job not only to pay my rent on Santa Monica Beach, but to be close to established musicians & industry professionals. I'd stand at that front door taking tickets or fighting with unruly famous & wealthy patrons , gazing at the artists onstage inside the club wishing it was me on that stage.          I used to hope that an industry executive would engage in conversation, find out what a talent I was & make me a rock star!  Oy, dream on. Standing in one spot only grows rust & dust.
       I will never regret the friendships made & the strength I gained to deal with any situation (getting jumped by 3 unhappy patrons being one of them & getting verbally abused every so often by some of the rich & famous, but after a while it was time to move on. It was about the time we started having to carry guns. $7/hr was not worth getting threatened everyday. Fast forward to 2012.

        Last September - my Executive Assistant Suzanne Fava & I headed out to Hollywood for the LA Music Awards nominating party at The Whiskey A GoGo.  I was excited at the thought of returning to LA, but with a sprained, painful & swollen ankle. I looked up the metaphysical implications & it referred to not having enough joy & pleasure in ones life. Ok , that made sense. I've been working harder this year than ever before & did need to add more fun in my life.

      The flight was long & we arrived as it grew dark, ankle throbbing from running to connecting flights.  Was flying ever fun? We arrived at my friends house, tired but excited. We reached the front door & my friend called to see where we were and to tell me he was on his way home.  The door was locked so he told us to go in the back door which he left open for us.  We did and I began to cook in order to make supper before he returned home from work as a "thank you" for having us.
         I was making a delicious Italian dish with pasta & sauted broccoli in olive oil, the smell of garlic was everywhere! My friend who picked us up at the airport had left, Suzanne had gone to the grocery store. I sat for a moment while the water was boiling, admiring the upgrade they'd done in the condo in the last 10 yrs since I'd been there. My phone was on the charger since I arrived & I picked it up to check messages. There was a message from my friend. "Where are you? I think you're in the wrong house!"
        Turns out I was in the wrong house! I had no idea  I called him freaking out just a bit & asked if I should leave a note with the food and he said they were quarreling with these people & they weren't very nice, so I begged him to come help me get our luggage out of there while I frantically cleaned.
         If ever there was a "Lucy" moment in my life, that was it. I scrambled to clean pots & pans, utensils. By the way,  I threw every bit of food into plastic grocery store bags & tried to clean up as best I could. My mind was racing in a surreal sort of way. What would I say if they walked in ?!! "Hi! You've won a complimentary meal from Iron Chef & I'm your host/chef for the evening, straight from New York?" I pictured myself in handcuffs! OY!!
     I cleaned as quickly and as best I could. I knew there were small things out of place like the herbs in the cupboard I'd used. I imagined the wife yelling at her husband or kids for leaving those things out of place. I had a mental chuckle & then thought , well thats what you get for leaving the back door open!!!     I then ran to my friends house, which was actually right next door. The buildings were exactly the same, same builder, identical except for the color. AND did I mention the back door WAS OPEN ?!!!  Jeez.
      We sat down, totally out of breath, heart racing , laughing til it hurt & tears were flowing.  All of a sudden I sat up in shock & realized I'd left a fennel salad  in the refrigerator! This time Suzanne went with me. She grabbed a few pieces of trash & a cup I'd missed while I took broccoli stems out of the garbage, got the fennel salad & washed the bowl. The house was spotless when we arrived & we tried our best to leave it that way. So glad I didn't hop in the shower before starting dinner. OMGosh we fell asleep laughing so hard that night and for the rest of the weekend for that matter.
       We had a great time at the Whiskey meeting other nominees/artists, making new friends, listening to music & visiting with old friends we hadn't seen in many years.  After we returned to Rochester I was going down my house stairs when I realized my ankle pain & swelling was completely gone. Magic? I don't think so, more like a remedy, the best belly laugh I've had in decades.
 
      The main event , the LA Music Awards was held just a few days ago, Nov 15. We had an amazing time & had some life changing experiences.  I'll continue the adventure in my next post.
